Universal Cargo is always looking for ways to help U.S. shippers, especially our importing and exporting customers, through our blog. Often, that means talking about topics and news items that impact U.S. businesses’ supply chains. Sometimes, it means highlighting resources around the web for shippers. I was curious what news and blog sources artificial intelligence (AI) would rank as the best resources for such shippers, so I went to the three biggest AI chatbots – ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google’s Gemini – to find out and share the results here in Universal Cargo’s blog.
I was also curious if Universal Cargo’s little blog had any chance of making such a list. I knew a list of purely the top 10 international shipping resources would be completely dominated by new outlets focused on international shipping with maybe a regulatory site or two, like the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, so I had all three AI’s do two lists: one for international shipping news outlets and one for international shipping blogs.
To make sure my profile or search histories didn’t influence the AI leaders’ lists (I’m not sure if they would or not), I signed out from all my profiles, cleared my search histories (which included plenty of universalcargo.com and shipping news websites), and interacted with the chatbots without signing in. I also made sure to give all three chatbots the same, exact prompt:
Create two lists for U.S. shippers who import and/or export goods: rank the top 10 news outlets for international shipping and rank the top 10 international shipping blogs. Provide explanations for where news or blogs land on their respective lists.
SPOILER: to my surprise, Universal Cargo’s blog did actually make one of the lists. I won’t tell you which one or where on the list.
After each AI chatbot created its list, I asked it to estimate how many international shipping blogs exist. Then I asked how big the pool of blogs was that it pulled its top 10 list from. The varying responses from the three chatbots was a bit surprising. The responses also gave more insight into how they created their respective lists.
